First of all I would like to thank Leif, Paul, Joe, and everybody at Superior Cage Fighting for giving me the opportunity to fight. These guys are really creating something special for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and for MMA in the Midwest. When the commission arrived for weigh-ins all of us fighters were informed that we would have to purchase a State Fighters ID and a National ID; something that was definitley unexpected. On top of that we learned that each ID card was going to be $20.00, totaling $40.00. Now to me paying $40.00 was not that big of a deal, but I heard some of the other fighters talking and some did have problems coming up with that kind of money with our current economic situation, and on such short notice. However, Joe, Leif, and Paul were there to save the day! They decided to pay for both the State ID's and the National ID's. There were 14 fights, 28 fighters, and at $40.00 a person you can imagine that money adds up; but they still took care of it, which was pretty cool. Another really cool thing that happened before the fight is Leif actually brought in a bunch of Sandwiches, Beef Jerky, Multi-Grain Bars, Dips, Drinks, and a few other essential post weigh-in types of food! These two gestures were completely unexpected and unnecessary, but that just goes to show you how much Leif, Paul, Joe and SCF care about the sport and about their fighters. The event itself was a great environment. Every fighter had their own music to walk out to, a large amount of fans, and just an aura that gets you excited about Mixed Martial Arts, and about Superior Cage Fighting. I was a little skeptical of the Venue at first, but it turned out to be perfect! The seating arrangements and whole floor area were awesome. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Superior Cage Fighting as a fighter, a spectator, and as a fan. Now obviously there are a few things that could have made this show better, but I trust that the guys at Superior Cage Fighting will keep growing this show and create something special. Thanks again Paul, Leif, Joe and others; Superior Cage Fighting rocks!

Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention; there obviously were some fighters who chose not to show up for whichever reason. This is pretty crappy for someone to do, I mean we work so hard for a fight, and then to just not show up is a slap in the face. I heard Leif breaking the news to one of the other fighters and can remember him saying "That's bullshit, I'm never going to be calling that guy again." Leif realizes the hard work and dedication it takes to compete in MMA and the fact that he recognizes that and will not accept things like that speaks highly of his character and his dedication to the sport!

mma11,
Thank you for your kind words. We are working very hard to present a good product. We're not there yet but we think we're on the way. We are trying some new things that other companies are not. We took it on the chin on the forums a few times after this show. Criticism is a good thing. I truly hope you enjoyed yourself on April 10th.

tlcmma,
Your idea is a very good one. Unfortunately we like to stay with the Friday night fight theme. We believe that poeple will spend more money on a Friday night than on a Saturday. Right now I'm working seriously to pay off the past debt of Superior Cage Fighting. After that we can look into doing a Saturday show. I know what cutting weight is all about. I've been around wrestling for the past 20 years and it plain sucks. Every year at the state tournament someone cuts their weight wrong and takes an early loss. They find themselves in the wrestlebacks trying to get placement when they were projected to be the state champ. One of the reasons we went with the 8 o'clock start time this time was to give the fighters as much time as possible to recover. We set the weigh in time at 4 but as you know the commission is usually a bit late so we'll continue to provide food and snacks for the fighters to help get them rehydrated and re-energized.

This was my first fighting experience as a fighter and let me tell you is was a great one. i didn't quite know what to expect but it was an exciting atmosphere and fun as hell. it was a very nice gesture for them to bring in food for us after weigh-ins and to top that to pay the fees for our licenses. Overall i couldn't have asked for more.

Pig Wizz-

So I was thinking about Superior Cage Fighting from a business standpoint and had several questions for your. First of all, besides You, Leif, and Joe, who all else is directly involved with Superior Cage Fighting. Second of all, and sorry if this is too personal or something not to be discussed on an internet forum, but is this your only job, or more of a hobby? I'm really interested into getting into MMA promotion and I think it would be cool to get some information straight from a source involved with a MMA promotion.

mma11,
I normally get a very large consulting fee. Lol. There is a lot more going on behind the scenes at a show than most people realize. Leif, Joe and I are definitely the front men but we have bartenders, waitresses, two security staffs, pit bosses, our ticket booth people, 3 photographers, film crew, a webmaster, a cage manager and so on. On the day of the show Joe is responsible for the fighters and the matches. I have a head bar person who is in charge of the bar and waitresses. I have a ticket booth manager and three pit bosses that scour my floor for any trouble that might be brewing. In the mean time, I'm spinning like a top directing all aspects of the fight. We put Leif in the VIP area to shake hands and entertain. At the next show I think we'll put him in a clown suit and let him try his hand at juggling. lol. Here's my email. goinsz45@yahoo.com Contact me and I can give you a little more detailed info.
